All or Nothing: Ello Ello Episode 11

Written by Ello Ello at 22:46 27/1-2020

  Episode 11: A new dawn

Narrator: with the season’s goal now achieved, Ello Ello have started to look to the future, in both the short term and the long term. Star riders: Lincoln Hannity, Rudi Base and Sylwester Pilarski have all started to rest ahead of the next season and less well known riders have been given their chance to shine. With just under 4 weeks left of the season the team do still have a few targets to aim for in the remaining races and having signed another young talent the team is continuing to build towards the future.

Henri (manager): the season has massively quietened for us now with the big goal behind us but we’ve continued to get a lot of success. This week we were lucky enough to get a good run going with top 9 finishes at 5 races in a row. We saw Basa finish 4th in a division 1 race, then Daniel added to his jersey success with 7th at division 1.2 race, Basa’s final race of the season ended the way we wanted as he came 7th and then our young guns, Sadiq Chakraborty and Brock Moeller came 9th in Bielsko and the Isle of Man respectively. Brock’s 9th place is particularly impressive as that was his first race as a captain and he wasn’t starting the race in the best form.

Bertus de Keijsere (coach): We realised a bit too late to the Isle of Man entry date that we could race it and by that time we’d already signed Brock up for Ascona, a CLTT race in Switzerland which was wasted energy for him. But luckily Brock bailed us out and got the points finish anyway.

Brock Moeller (rider): Hi, I’m Brock, I’m in my first full professional season and this week I came 9th in Race of Man, a division 2 race. I have finished 9th a few times before, when I was a first racing for Spin Doctors but that was in division 11 and all that really required was me not to fall off the bike. Since then life’s been pretty hectic. I signed for Ello Ello around day 20 and from the moment I joined the team it’s been a blur of training camps and races. I think I was really lucky to join EE when I did. The team had the money to afford to train me 24/7 and with so many big names set to retire in the next few years I can learn my craft before taking over when I’m still quite young. I’ve heard a few rumours of races I may enter so I’m now getting really excited for the future.

Bertus de Keijsere (coach): The plan with Brock is really hard to work out, last week we took him to Imperial College, London to work on his TT position and power to round him out but in many ways he’s too versatile a rider. In the short term he’s going to be racing at the Don Tour, it’s kind of to get a bit of a feel for the race really, we won’t use his best form there and keep it for a later date. But then next year we’ll likely be looking at races we can try and contest the YC with him, so maybe we’ll be back hunting for the orange jersey in Valpa again next year but he could also become a really specialist one day rider so it’s great to have someone so versatile.

Henri (manager): The run in to the end of the season isn’t completely set yet. We have a few obvious races like Mount Fuji and Albacete but the build up to the Don Tour isn’t obvious and with injuries to Iancu and Faltus we’ve had a major spanner thrown in the works but this week should hopefully see Gyenge Rubik return to captaining races at the elite level and more work with Zhai, our latest talent. We’re starting to see our preparations for future years now and I think a new dawn may be coming.
